Happy May, everyone! Our cherry blossoms are blooming (such a pink shot of joy each year), the sun is shining, and Paris is bursting with that glorious springish combination of new life and suggestions of summer. May is a funny month in France — dominated by bank holidays and the wonderfully French practice of ‘faire le pont’; taking an extra day off around a bank holiday to create a four-day weekend, bridging the gap with some extended leisure time. It gives the month a peculiarly holiday-ish feeling, a mini redress of the work-life balance. And what goes better with lounging restfully in a park or sipping an apero on a sunny terrasse than a good book? "
